Maria’s Top Piping Tips

To piping realistic (not perfect) buttercream flowers

Practice is key!

Make your buttercream at least the day before you need it to set. My recipe is available to purchase in the Learning Hub/tutorials tab

Cover your cupcake with a thin layer of buttercream before piping

Try not to overfill your piping bag, you can always refill when you need

I like to ensure my piping bag is tight at all times, especially for roses. I find it much easier to control the way the buttercream comes out

When you feel the piping bag getting loose, tighten it

You may need to stop a few times and clean your piping tip multiple times, sometimes buttercream can build up. I like to use a baby wipe

I prefer to pipe on a frozen cupcake, this helps set the buttercream quickly. And is a game changer in the summertime!
